Surveying Lab

Equipped with tools and instruments for measuring, mapping, and construction layout

Equipments Available

Tapes – Used for linear measurements in surveying.

Chains – Used for measuring distances with standardized lengths like Gunter’s chain (66 feet) or Engineer’s chain (100 feet).

Ranging Rods – Tall poles, usually painted in alternating red and white sections, used for aligning survey points and setting out straight lines.

Dumpy Level – A precise optical instrument used for leveling and height measurement in surveying, featuring a fixed telescope.

Total Station – A modern electronic surveying instrument that integrates an electronic theodolite with an electronic distance meter (EDM) for precise angle and distance measurements.

Electronic Theodolite – An advanced version of the traditional theodolite with digital angle-reading capabilities, improving measurement accuracy and efficiency.

Prismatic Compass – A magnetic compass with a prism for precise angle measurements, commonly used for navigation and surveying.

Plane Table – A flat, portable drawing surface mounted on a tripod, used for field sketching and mapping in conjunction with a sighting device.
